Technical Support Officer – Trade Waste


The Council’s Trade Waste team within the City Waters Unit are part of the Shared Services team covering the Hamilton City Council, Waipa and Waikato District Council areas. We have an opportunity for a Technical Support Officer to join our team.

Reporting to the Trade Waste team leader, you will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the team’s consents and compliance activities, including:

  • Responding to customer enquiries and providing great customer service
  • Processing Trade Waste Consents and investigation reports
  • Audit scheduling and coordination, and assistance to Trade Waste Officers
  • Monitoring and updating of quality management documents
  • Assisting with health and safety representative tasks and documentation
  • Technical assistance with auditing and non-compliance breaches 
  • Administrative support of Trade Waste activities

We’re looking for a motivated and technically savvy professional. Someone who has a customer-focused can-do attitude, is quick to learn new ways of working and can work effectively with a range of computer systems (there’ll be lots of computer work!). 

You’ll be a great listener, have a confident phone manner, and can naturally build rapport quickly with customers. Being a team player is essential, you’ll be joining a united team that works smart, achieves results and has fun – each person has their part to play.

Ideally you’ll also have a passion for science and be keen on navigating a pathway towards becoming a wastewater or compliance specialist. 

The role is full time, but we are open to discussing part time hours for the right candidate. 

The recruiting range for this role starts at $45,700 per annum pro-rated, and could be negotiated for the right candidate.
