Gardener - Vegetation Control

It’s no secret that as we come into our spring and summer months, the plants and the gardens start to grow like crazy! That's why our City Parks team is looking for a vibrant experienced Gardener to join our team.  You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day maintenance Hamilton’s Neighborhood Parks and Reserves.

You will be part of a wider Parks team working to maintain and develop the Councils Parks and Reserves to make our City beautiful. You will also assist with Winter Planting and other related tasks when required in the wider team.

Our ideal candidate will have experience with garden maintenance and the use of mechanical tools, along with weed control, whilst ensuring you comply with relevant standards and specific time frames.

This job is outdoors and will require some walking, digging, cutting and moving of bulk items. So, a good level of base fitness is required. 

You will also need:

  • Current Full NZ Driver License
  • Current Growsafe Certificate 
  • Previous experience in maintaining shrubberies, hedges and garden beds
  • Good communication skills
  • A great attitude who can work effectively in a team and by yourself.

The recruiting range for this role starts at $21.05  per hour and could be negotiated for the right candidate.
