Assistant Turf Manager

FMG Stadium Waikato and Seddon Park are two of New Zealand's finest sporting venues and high-profile public assets owned by the people of Hamilton.

These world-class facilities are operated by H3, a division of Hamilton City Council, and regularly host national and international sporting events featuring some of the codes’ best athletes.

We have an opportunity as an Assistant Turf Manager – a role in which you will be responsible for leading members of the Turf Team who are responsible for managing the playing surfaces at FMG Stadium Waikato and our other venues.   

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate both leadership and turf management skills. Your turf experience will include preparing international and domestic rugby turf surfaces, maintaining a sand turf profile outfield along with the preparation and application of agrichemicals. In addition, you will need a clean NZ driver's license and a sports turf qualification. 

The nature of our business means there are some long days on the job, and you'll need to demonstrate the flexibility needed to meet the requirements of the events we host, including being available to work Monday to Sunday as rostered. 

We deliver high-profile international events, broadcast around the world, so your work is vital to how Hamilton and its venues are presented on the global stage – so it's an exciting time to be joining our team. We have a busy season ahead of us in Hamilton, with plenty of international and domestic sport plus many events at FMG Stadium Waikato.  We are replacing our turf at the end of this year, and our successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring this exciting project delivers world-class turf.

The recruiting range for this role starts at $65,000 with the hours of work based upon event requirements.
