The Council’s City Parks team is looking for an Apprentice to join its operation and gain our organisation’s support in progressing their skills and horticulture career.
About the position
The Amenity Horticulture Apprentice assists with the maintenance and development of Hamilton’s parks, sports grounds, natural areas, landscapes and road plantings to make our city beautiful.
You’ll need to be an energetic and hard-working team player who isn’t afraid to muck in and get their hands dirty. Physical fitness and the ability to remain calm under pressure are vital. You will have NCEA level 1 English, Mathematics and Horticulture and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in horticulture. You’ll be a team player, with the ability to work independently and complete all allocated tasks on time.
What we can offer
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday. We will help you with on and off the job training to complete a National Certificate in Horticulture as well as additional to on-going training and development and the chance to progress your career.
The wage for this position will depend on skill, experience and any relevant unit standards that the candidate has.
